Tall perennial with small 'sunflowers' beloved by birds. It is one of the latest flowering of the sunflowers (Begins September/October); Broadleaf, leaves disappear in winter.
Install at waterline or above. Freshwater only.
Description: Can reach 6’ or taller in sunny or partly sunny moist sites.
Good companion plants: Asclepias incarnata (Swamp Milkweed), Hibiscus moscheutos (Crimson-Eyed Rosemallow), Hibiscus coccineus (Scarlet Rosemallow), Panicum virgatum (Switch Grass), Vernonia noveborecensis (New York Ironweed).
Wetland Indicator Status: FACW (Usually occur in wetlands, but may occur in non-wetlands).
