Low growing and sod-forming, similar in form to Spartina patens. Able to tolerate very high salinity, in saturated, irregularly flooded, and dry soils. Grasslike, leaves present all year.
Install between mean high tide and spring tide. It commonly grows in areas where water levels fluctuate between 2 inches above and 6 inches below soil level. Tolerates full salinity (35 ppt).
